In September, 80 psychiatrists, neurologists, physiatrists, internists and family medicine specialists gathered with other health care providers for a CME program on Pharmacologic Facilitation of Brain Injury Rehabilitation, hosted by the Brain Injury Research Center (BIRC) at TIRR Memorial Hermann. The one-day event was held at the Trevisio Restaurant and Conference Center in the John P. McGovern Texas Medical Center Commons Building.

DeBakey VA Medical Center; “Pharmacotherapy of Anxiety and PTSD after TBI” by Jesse Fann, MD, University of Washington-Seattle; “The Intersection between Brain Injury and Mental Health Services” by Thomas W. McAllister, MD, Indiana University School of Medicine; “Pharmacotherapy of Irritability and Aggression after TBI” by Flora M. Hammond, MD, Indiana University School of Medicine; and “Pharmacotherapy of Posttraumatic Sleep Disturbances” by Kathleen R. Bell, MD, University of Washington-Seattle. A faculty panel and question-and-answer session was led by Mark Sherer, PhD, ABPP, FACRM, TIRR Memorial Hermann, and Stuart C. Yudofsky, MD, Baylor College of Medicine.

Program director was David B. Arciniegas, MD, who worked with planning committee members Mark Sherer, PhD, Flora M. Hammond, MD, and BIRC staff members T. Angelita Garcia and Terri Hudler-Hull.
