The pediatric emergency room (ER) at Memorial Hermann Katy is ready to care for children from birth to 18 years old who are experiencing a medical emergency, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The medical team consists of pediatric-trained emergency medicine physicians, pediatricians, nurses and support staff who specialize in providing treatment to children of all ages. In addition to pediatric personnel, the pediatric ER has equipment and supplies made specifically for children, access to Child Life specialists to support children during their visit or a procedure, and state-of-the-art technology. Staff provide compassionate care by understanding that children react differently to stress, injury or certain medications and provide care designed to help reduce their stress and better understand what is happening during their treatment and care.
While the pediatric ER has the same entrance as the adult ER, it has a separate dedicated space, waiting area and staff. Like the adult ER, the pediatric ER treats all emergencies from minor to life-threatening.

When a baby is born early, has health issues or a difficult birth, they may require continuous monitoring, observation and support. The accredited Level III NICU at Memorial Hermann Katy offers comprehensive care for more seriously ill newborns.
If your child must be admitted to Children’s Memorial Hermann at Memorial Hermann Katy, they will be treated in a dedicated pediatric unit with comfortable rooms, including window-seat sofa beds for family members staying overnight. Affiliated UTHealth Houston pediatric hospitalist physicians provide specialized care to children with acute or chronic conditions.
Our multidisciplinary approach involves the participation of pediatric-dedicated support services including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, nutrition, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy and more. A Child Life specialist is available to make each child’s health care experience less frightening by explaining what to expect during hospitalization or how to cope with the illness or injury.
