The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), as part of the 2019 IPPS Final Rule, encouraged hospitals to make available online a listing of standard hospital charges commonly known as the Charge Description Master (CDM). Memorial Hermann supports the intent of the regulations to provide patient-friendly information about your potential out-of-pocket costs. Charges are the same for all patients, regardless of their ability to pay or insurance coverage. Standard charges may not reflect actual reimbursement for service.

Patients may not find the CDM helpful because it is a list of itemized charges that use specific technical language and medical descriptions. For this reason, Memorial Hermann created the Good Faith Pricing Estimates and Information section to assist our patients.

If you need additional assistance, our Central Pricing Office can provide more detailed pricing estimates, answer specific questions about insurance coverage and out-of-pocket costs. If you lack insurance, they can assist you in determining if you qualify for financial assistance by connecting you to the right resources. Learn more by calling (832) 658-6455 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
