Barbara Carrasco, FNP

Advanced care provider Barbara Carrasco is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who specializes in OB-GYN.

She earned her undergraduate degree in nursing at The University of Texas at Arlington and her master's degree in nursing at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. She also has an associate degree in nursing from Lone Star College and holds certificates in basic life support (BLS), NEXPLANON® (etonogestrel implant), Mirena/ Skyla Intrauterine system and women’s health ultrasound.

Barbara provides routine gynecological and obstetrical care, comprehensive well-woman exams, in-office IUD and NEXPLANON® placement and removal, all forms of contraception counseling and management, preconception and fertility counseling and management, menopausal and hormone management, and lab and imaging evaluation and management. She also treats painful menstrual cramps, polycystic ovarian syndrome, ovarian cysts, abnormal uterine bleeding, endometriosis and painful menstruation.

A desire to help others and make a difference in people’s lives, heightened by the death of her 24-year-old sister, inspired Barbara’s health care career. She enjoys counseling and educating patients through the entire progression of women’s health: preventive measures, family planning, peri-menopause and menopause.

An approachable care giver, Barbara has excellent bedside manner and wants her patients to see her as a trustworthy, heartwarming, attentive and caring provider with whom they feel comfortable speaking about any medical concerns. The most rewarding part of her practice is making an impact and addressing patients’ health concerns appropriately and thoroughly. 

She is a member of the American Nurses’ Association, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, North Harris Montgomery Advanced Practice Nurse Society and National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health.

In her spare time, Barbara enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, kayaking and 4-wheeling, as well as exploring new activities and spending time with her nephews and nieces.
