HOUSTON (April 13, 2016)

“We would like to thank all of our friends, family and neighbors for their continued support and good wishes. We are extremely thankful for the high-quality care our son, Kaori, has received at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, and for the nurses, paramedics and pilots with Memorial Hermann Life Flight who were able to get Kaori the care he needed in such a short amount of time.

We are pleased to share that Kaori is doing very well. The swelling has gone down in his leg but he still has a short distance to go on his road to recovery. His physicians expect him to be back to normal soon.

Last Sunday, Kaori and some friends were playing football on the beach. The ball was overthrown and landed near some dunes. That’s when Kaori went to retrieve the ball, and the snake bit him. We urge parents to be extremely aware of the surroundings where their children are playing. Avoid dunes and areas with tall grass where poisonous snakes could potentially be dwelling, and be sure your children are aware of this as well. This type of accident could have happened to anyone, but we hope no one else has to go through the traumatic experience. Thank you all for your continued love and support.”
