Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation today announced it will provide sports medicine services and medical supplies for gymnasts competing in the 2008 Visa Championships, USA Gymnastics' national championships, scheduled to take place in Houston May 22-24.
Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation orthopedic physicians and athletic trainers will be onsite during the four-day event to provide medical expertise to the highly esteemed athletes competing in the 2008 Visa Championships. The Memorial Hermann physicians are sports medicine fellowship-trained experts and are well-equipped to provide medical services throughout the competition.
The 2008 Visa Championships, USA Gymnastics' national championships, includes men's artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, and trampoline and tumbling, featuring both junior and senior elite levels. The country's best gymnasts are vying for national titles and spots on their respective U.S. national teams. The Visa Championships is the men's qualifying event for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Gymnastics, June 19-22, in Philadelphia. The U.S. champions and the 2008-09 national team will also be determined in Houston.
Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation's involvement with the Visa Championships is an outgrowth of the recently established relationship between Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation and the Houston Gymnastics Academy. Through their partnership with Houston Gymnastics Academy and the 2008 Visa Championships, Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation broadens its scope of services to include treatment not only for gymnasts, but for dancers, cheerleaders and other athletes.
