HOUSTON (March 17, 2016)

Memorial Hermann Urgent Care Washington AvenueThe Memorial Hermann Urgent Care on Washington Avenue opened last week as part of Memorial Hermann’s expansion of healthcare services in the Greater Heights area.Located at 4500 Washington Ave. near Fowler St., Memorial Hermann Urgent Care treats patients six months and older and offers convenient hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week, without the need for an appointment.

“Memorial Hermann’s urgent care model is designed to meet the growing and changing healthcare needs of the communities in and around Houston,” said David James, M.D., Sr. Vice President and CEO of Memorial Hermann Medical Group (MHMG). “Our market research and the volume of traffic our primary care physicians have seen in recent years in the area revealed a need for a consumer-centric, quality, on-demand healthcare facility.”

Memorial Hermann Urgent Care clinics provide walk-in care for those with non-life-threatening health conditions and offer immediate access to the entire network of Memorial Hermann services. The 2,500-square-foot Memorial Hermann Urgent Care on Washington Avenue offers those in the Greater Heights and the surrounding communities the ease and convenience of extended medical care and serves as an extension of a primary care physician’s office.

Memorial Hermann opened its first urgent care in Friendswood in June 2015 and will open a third location in Telfair in April.

The Memorial Hermann Urgent Care on Washington Avenue was announced last October concurrently with expansion and renovation plans at Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital, as well as plans to build a Memorial Hermann Convenient Care Center in 2017 at I-10 and Studemont.

“By providing convenient access to all levels of high quality healthcare, we’re ensuring we meet the medical needs of the surrounding communities,” said Susan Jadlowski, Sr. Vice President, CEO, Memorial Hermann Greater Heights. “The addition of the urgent care facility satisfies the need for another access point to readily-available and prompt healthcare services.”

The Memorial Hermann Urgent Care is staffed by Eric Blacher, M.D. and Marc Melincoff, D.O., who are both MHMG board-certified family medicine physicians.

There is added convenience for those who receive care at Memorial Hermann Urgent Care and have a primary care physician who is a member of MHMG. To help ensure integrated comprehensive care, those patients will have their visit placed in their electronic health record for easy review during any follow-up appointments with their primary care physician or care at any other Memorial Hermann location.
