HOUSTON (October 28, 2014)

Memorial Hermann Health System will once again expand its high-quality, patient-centered care deeper into the communities it serves. Today, the health system announced plans to build a fifth Convenient Care Center - this time in Spring, Texas.

In just under two years, residents of Spring will have convenient access to a variety of services all under one roof,” said Josh Urban, CEO of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital, and the health system’s lead on the project, which is scheduled to open in summer 2016. “From primary care physician appointments to imaging services and even trauma care, this new state-of-the-art facility will address a number of healthcare needs for families in the area.”

The Memorial Hermann Convenient Care Center in Spring, modeled after sister facilities in Summer Creek, Pearland, South Katy and Cypress, will provide one-stop, coordinated access to a vast array of Memorial Hermann services in a single location.

The 30,000-square-foot building, located at the Grand Parkway and Boudreaux Road, will house up to six primary care physicians (adult and pediatric), an imaging department, a 24-hour emergency room, sports medicine and rehabilitation, and more. The total project cost, including land and developer building is $20.36 million.

The landscape of healthcare is changing, and so are patient expectations,” said Dan Wolterman, CEO and President of Memorial Hermann. “To succeed in today’s marketplace, we must provide safe high-quality care that is easily accessible and convenient. Our goal is to exceed our patients’ expectations with this new model of care.”

Memorial Hermann’s Convenient Care Centers are designed to take the stress out of scheduling appointments for routine health needs by offering families options such as walk-in access and extended evening and weekend hours for primary care. For non-routine and more urgent needs, the Convenient Care Centers house 24-hour, seven-day a week emergency departments staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and emergency-trained nurses.

Patients who present at the Memorial Hermann Convenient Care Center in Spring who need a higher level of care would be transferred to Memorial Hermann The Woodlands, Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center or Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.

We are excited to bring this unique offering to Spring and the surrounding areas,” Urban added.

The news of the Spring Convenient Care Center comes on the heels of Memorial Hermann’s recently announced Cypress project. Both projects are part of the health system’s strategic growth initiative – Breaking New Ground – designed to meet current and future healthcare needs in the greater Houston region. The initiative also includes the construction of a medical campus in Pearland featuring a 64-bed hospital, and multi-million dollar expansions at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital and Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital.
