Affiliated with The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School, Martin received her medical degree from and performed her residency at UTHealth. She completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital.
About 500,000 knee replacements and more than 175,000 hip replacements are performed each year in the United States, and those numbers are on the rise. With an aging but still active population, hip replacements are expected to increase 174 percent in the next 20 years, and knee replacements will rise even more – 673 percent, according the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
