HOUSTON (January 30, 2017)

The Houston Super Bowl Host Committee announced Memorial Hermann as its official and exclusive health care provider on Friday.

The partnership will extend to all Host Committee events downtown, including Super Bowl LIVE presented by Verizon. Additionally, Memorial Hermann will also provide first aid stations at events like NFL Experience Driven by Genesis inside the George R. Brown Convention Center, as well as supporting first aid stations at NRG Stadium during Super Bowl LI.

“We couldn’t be happier with our partnership with Memorial Hermann,” Host Committee President and CEO Sallie Sargent said. “Memorial Hermann is a cornerstone institution in Houston. Now visitors to Super Bowl LIVE will get to experience their extraordinary level of care and service.”

More than 140 Memorial Hermann clinicians, including primary physicians, nurses and athletic trainers, will provide first aid during Super Bowl week. Dr. James McCarthy, Chief of Emergency Medical Services at Memorial Hermann and McGovern Medical School at UTHealth, will take the lead for trauma and emergency issues, and Dr. Walt Lowe, Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Memorial Hermann and Chairman and Professor of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School, will take the lead for orthopedic issues.

“Memorial Hermann welcomes the privilege of providing medical services for the visitors coming to Houston for Super Bowl LI. As Houston’s leader in trauma and emergency care, we’re bringing our renowned expertise and highly trained care teams to the various venues, to be available if and when medical needs arise,” said Dr. Benjamin Chu, President and CEO of Memorial Hermann. “From minor emergencies to major trauma, Memorial Hermann offers high-quality services in orthopedics, heart and vascular, neuroscience, children’s services and more. We’ll be ready to care for people at our onsite network of first-aid stations and medical tents, as well as expedite transport to our vast network of hospitals and specialty institutes in the Texas Medical Center and beyond.”

There will be three stations located at Super Bowl LIVE presented by Verizon, two more at NFL Experience Driven by Genesis, one located inside the Marriott Marquis Downtown, the official NFL hotel, and six in-stadium first aid stations on Super Bowl Sunday.

At Super Bowl LIVE presented by Verizon, there will be a main medical tent located in Lot 2 at Tailgate LIVE. There will also be a station in Discovery Green near McKinney Street by the ice rink and just outside Hall E of the George R. Brown Convention Center against the south end wall.

The two stations at the NFL Experience Driven by Genesis will be in the back of Hall A/B on the first floor, and in front of Hall E on the south end wall.
