On Wednesday, June 8, Memorial Hermann Heroes in Health members Erin and Jason Smith hosted more than 50 guests for a backyard BBQ to kick-off summer with Memorial Hermann Life Flight®. Guests mingled with the crew, along with Memorial Hermann leadership and affiliated physicians, while enjoying smoked brisket BBQ cooked by Life Flight’s Smokin’ Choppers on their very own pit.
Following welcoming remarks, Heroes in Health member Ben Buchanan presented Life Flight Medical Director Dr. Joseph Love and Administrative Director of Life Flight Eric von Wenckstern with a $100,000 check from the Heroes in Health third annual Sporting Clay Shoot.
Founded in 1976 by Dr. Red Duke, Life Flight is on-call for Harris and surrounding counties 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. With more than 140,000 missions flown, Life Flight is one of the most successful health programs in Texas and has faithfully served the Greater Houston area for almost 40 years.
Events hosted by Heroes in Health gather Houstonians who are passionate about health care and will advocate and raise funds for Memorial Hermann’s many facilities, physicians and research projects. Events include educational opportunities, volunteerism and social gatherings. “As a Heroes in Health member, you are able to connect directly to Memorial Hermann’s stellar doctors and researchers as well as learn about the ever expanding and changing healthcare landscape,” shared host Jason Smith.
