At Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, the affiliated team of specialists is dedicated to offering the most comprehensive care to treat a wide variety of pediatric orthopedic illness and injuries, from minor fractures to complex conditions. Through a collaborative, multispecialty approach, patients are cared for by an experienced team of nurses, therapists and affiliated physicians who strive to bring sub-specialized inpatient and outpatient care to children of all ages. For patients with complex, long-term needs, we offer patients a continuity of care throughout childhood with a smooth transition to an adult provider when needed.

MaKayla’s scoliosis diagnosis came as a complete shock. The petite 13-year-old was a cheerleader, tumbled and played competition softball. By all appearances, she was perfectly healthy. In June 2013, 15-year-old Matthew and his family were at their house on Lake Livingston enjoying some family time when tragedy struck. While tubing behind a jet ski, Matthew suddenly crashed into a boat dock. Right before impact, Matthew attempted to protect his head as best he could and swung his legs around, which bore the brunt of the crash.
