Infectious Disease
Infectious Disease physicians treat diseases caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites in children. From the mild to the most severe, in young people of all ages, these serious and sometimes life-threatening conditions can be especially difficult to treat.
Infants, children and adolescents are seen for diagnostic and therapeutic services related to proven or suspected infections, particularly those that are recurrent, severe or caused by unusual germs. Additionally, children with prolonged or recurrent fever, as well as congenital, perinatal, orthopedic, cardiovascular and pulmonary infections are also seen.
Specialized care is also available for infants born to HIV-positive mothers and for all pediatric patients with proven HIV infection.
