Child Life Internship and Practicum Program

NOTICE: We will no longer be offering a Fall 2023 Internship. We will now be offering a Fall 2023 Practicum.

Recognized as an accredited facility by the Association of Child Life Professionals, Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital offers students opportunities to learn about the roles and functions of child life specialists. Our Child Life Internship and Practicum Programs enable students to observe and perform a variety of child life services, all under the supervision of Certified Child Life Specialists.

To those purposes, the programs afford students with the opportunity to experience a variety of patient and family issues, to take advantage of regular educational sessions, and to engage in ongoing discussion of the student experience.

Submitting a completed application does not guarantee an interview or acceptance. Each application will be reviewed to determine if the applicant meets all the requirements. The most qualified applicants will be offered interviews. All interviews are conducted virtually. Selected students will be required to work the schedule of their supervisor.

Internship

As of January 6, 2023, we will be using the Association of Child Life Professionals Internship Readiness Common Application. It can be found at childlife.org. There, you will also find instructions for how to complete the application.

Practicum

Practicums at Children’s Memorial Hermann are part time with a minimum of 150 hours.
