Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital Heart and Neuroscience Programs Earn National Rankings

HOUSTON, TEXAS (June18, 2019)

Children's Memorial Hermann - ExteriorChildren’s Memorial Hermann Hospital was named one of the 50 best children’s hospitals in the nation for cardiology and heart surgery, and neurology and neurosurgery, for the second year in a row by U.S. News & World Report. The rankings are based on scores in patient care, patient safety, outcomes, nursing, advanced technology and reputation.

“I am incredibly proud of the commitment and efforts our nurses, staff and affiliated physicians make to deliver the best care possible for our patients every day,” said Senior Vice President and CEO of Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital Susie Distefano. “We are proud to be a leader in pediatric and women’s care in Houston, Texas and the nation.”  

Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital’s cardiology and heart surgery programs jumped 19 spots in this year’s rankings, to No. 26 nationally, and ranked third in Texas. The neurology and neurosurgery programs ranked 41st nationally for the second year in a row, and third in Texas.

Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, the primary teaching hospital for the Department of Pediatrics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth, provides service in more than 40 pediatric and women’s related specialties, including renowned programs in cardiac care, neurosciences, maternal-fetal medicine, neonatology and pediatric trauma.
