Baby girl born on great-grandmother's birthday
Maria Dolores Ruiz got a unique present for her 90th birthday: the birth of her great-granddaughter. Ever Cotharn was born on July 11 at 6 pounds 10 ounces, rounding out the fourth generation of Cotharn women at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital. Her parents, Trevor and Nicole Cotharn, were eager to welcome their fifth child, and first girl.

Between the multicultural atmosphere, shopping and dining, plus the numerous choices of locations to work with Memorial Hermann, Houston sounded ideal. In addition, Karen Wilmott, RN, came all the way from New York to become part of the Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital team in August 2015.

Snake-bitten teen slowly recovering
In a statement, Aleece Byerly-Taylor and Patrick Taylor said their son Kaori was bitten when he went to retrieve an overthrown football that landed near the dunes. He subsequently was airlifted to Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. "We urge parents to be extremely aware of the surroundings where their children are playing," according to the statement. "Avoid dunes and areas with tall grass where poisonous snakes could potentially be dwelling, and be sure your children are aware of this as well."
