Child Life Wish List
Child Life at Children’s Memorial Hermann strives to meet children's medical needs, with special attention to their unique emotional and social needs. We blend education with play in creative ways to help children and their families cope with the demands of surgery and hospitalization.
Child Life specialists assist in preparing children for upcoming medical or surgical procedures by using books and pamphlets, teaching dolls and medical play materials. Donations of items listed below would be greatly appreciated, and will help in taking children's minds off of their illness and hospital stay. Together for Kids™
Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital has joined 52 U.S. hospitals to form the nonprofit foundation Together for Kids™, which will raise funds nationally to help member hospitals cope with dramatic increases in children’s health care needs. The foundation will target accident prevention and childhood obesity as its top priorities.
“Children in Houston, across Texas and nationwide are facing serious challenges to their health, including the steadily climbing statistics on childhood obesity, the staggering toll of accidental injuries and the growing number of uninsured youngsters,” said Craig Cordola, CEO of Children’s Memorial Hermann. “We are delighted to be part of this exciting initiative and its mission to rally resources to improve children’s health in the U.S.”
Together for Kids consists of 34 children’s hospitals and hospital systems, representing 53 individual facilities serving children in 47 U.S. cities. As a tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) public charity, the foundation will raise funds through corporate sponsorship, events, grants and other forms of philanthropy, distributing the funds to member hospitals to address the most urgent children’s health needs in their communities.
Panera Bread Operation Dough-Nation Community Breadbox Program
The Community Breadbox program ensures that donations made at Panera Bread feed back into the community. Cash donations made by customers in bakery-cafes will benefit Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital. Panera and its franchisees will match 50% of the donations to provide additional support to the hospital. If you would like to contribute to Panera Bread’s efforts to assist Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, look for the Community Breadbox collection containers at the 18 Panera Bread locations in the Houston area.
